Peace of mind is a great blessing
Whenever we rethink of why are we doing anything, it will always goes back to the purpose of doing it.
It always beg the question "why am I doing this?"
For example, why am I working for money?
We would say the money will feed us, buys us protection from danger in life. I can support my family and make them comfortable.
Whatever we do, it would come back to gain the peace of mind.
In the Quran, in many surahs Allah stated many of His blessings in jannah, some of those are in surah an-Naba': the believers will obtain gardens with rivers flowing underneath, lushes of delicious fruits as grapes, and of drinks that are wholesome, and of beautiful young women.
Allah also mentions that there will be no vulgar words spoken nor any falsehood.
I raised a question, particularly on the last point.
Why is there no ill speech in heaven?
Dr HAMKA, in his Tafsir al-Azhar explained that whenever we visualized the same condition ie beautiful young women and men with drinks as wine coming together we would imagine vulgarity and sinful acts. Drinking alcohol would made men and women to lose their senses and then commit wrongful doings.
But in jannah, these does not occur. Why?
Because in my humble perspective, those vulgarity as ill speech would not give the pleasure on the mind and heart, hence the peace of mind is one of the blessings Allah bestow to the believers.
I believe in this world, the best of blessings are in the peace of mind. In more accurate term is مطمئنة.
Whatever that can give true peace of mind must be sought.
Hence physical, emotional and spiritual attainment must always combine to achieve this.
And i believe Islam, the belief in only Oneness of Allah , whatever our shortcomings is the answer.
So when we have this perspective, every problems we face in life would not deter us from happiness and peace, as we understand by the dzikr of Allah and following His prophet's teaching will give us مطمئنة.
And He knows best.
