avoiding two extremes

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم "The more one understands of the Quran and applies in one's life, the closer one comes to Allah. I hope that Muslims will steer the middle course between two unpleasant extremes. The first is to throw up one's hands, claiming that islamic knowledge is not a business of a layperson, and that it should be left to specialists in the field. This attitude has left the Muslim masses in deep ignorance of their religion. Whoever is not busy learning about Islam is likely to be busy in a wide variety of activities that will be a burden for himself in the Day of Judgment. This attitude also leads to a result that was severely critisized in Surah at-Tawbah. The Jews and Christians took their priests and rabbis as lords in place of God, by blindly following them when they prohibited what God had mad lawful for them and made lawful that which God had prohibited. The second extreme is to consider oneself learned after having read a couple of books on Islam....

One day in Nephrology Unit

Today we had class at Nephroplogy Unit. Dr Muhammad Ali explained and asked us questions on acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). We were asked quite a lot of questions. Questions on basic medical knowledge, but somehow we were unprepared. I can see the expression of mild disappointment from Dr Ali. But he kept his cool and continue explaining as we, mostly did not respond to his questions. By the end of the class, one of my friend said to me, "5 years (in medical school) and we knew nothing." I would disclaim that we were unprepared because we didn't know which topic we will be learning every day for the elective posting. But that's not an excuse. So, what are the lessons learnt today? 1. Short notes on today's lesson: CKD differs in duration than AKI, which is >3 months. CKD relies on the level of GFR. Hemodialysis is done for stage IV & V. What if the patient has stage V CKD and asymptomatic, give supportive treatment. For AKI, we...

Menjadi murabbi seperti Zulqarnain

Imej

Hubungan kekeluargaan, sauda...
